Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar divided
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch for thickening
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine sliced strawberries, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Toss until strawberries are well coated.
  3. Pour the strawberry mixture into a greased baking dish.
Make the Topping
  1. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, remaining sugar, and salt.
  2. Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined.
  3. Spoon the topping over the strawberry filling evenly.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  2. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
