  • 8 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Decorations
  • 1 cup fresh flowers edible varieties like roses or peonies
  • 1 cup gold leaf optional

Method

Prepare Cake Layers
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour the baking pans.
  2. In a stand mixer, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Make Buttercream Frosting
  1. In a stand mixer, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined.
  3. Add heavy cream and vanilla extract, then beat on high speed until fluffy and smooth.
Assemble the Cake
  1. Level the cooled cake layers using a cake leveler.
  2. Place the first layer on a cake board and spread a layer of buttercream frosting on top.
  3. Repeat with remaining layers, stacking them carefully.
  4. Cover the entire cake with a thin layer of buttercream to create a crumb coat. Chill for 30 minutes.
  5. Apply a final layer of buttercream and smooth the sides and top.
  6. Decorate the cake with fresh flowers and gold leaf as desired.
