Base Ingredients
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries plus extra for garnish

Method
 

Prepare the Blueberry Mixture
  1. In a blender, combine the fresh blueberries and 1/4 cup of the sugar. Blend until smooth.
  2. Strain the blueberry puree through a fine mesh sieve to remove the skins, if desired.
Mix the Base
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, remaining sugar, and vanilla extract until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Stir in the blueberry puree until well combined.
Chill the Mixture
  1. Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.
Churn the Ice Cream
  1. Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
Freeze the Ice Cream
  1. Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 2 hours to firm up.
Serve
  1. Scoop the blueberry ice cream into bowls and garnish with extra blueberries if desired.
