Ingredients
  

For the Steak
  • 2 pounds flank steak sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for cooking
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper to taste
For the Onion Sauce
  • 2 large onions sliced
  • 1 bell pepper green sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar optional

Method
 

Prepare the Steak
  1. Season the flank steak with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Cook the Steak
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Make the Onion Sauce
  1. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and bell pepper. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add beef broth, soy sauce, oregano, and vinegar. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
  3. Return the steak to the skillet, cover, and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes until the steak is tender.
Serve
  1. Serve the bistec encebollado hot, garnished with the onion sauce, alongside rice and beans.
