Method
Prepare the Steak
- Season the flank steak with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Cook the Steak
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Make the Onion Sauce
- In the same skillet, add sliced onions and bell pepper. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add beef broth, soy sauce, oregano, and vinegar. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- Return the steak to the skillet, cover, and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes until the steak is tender.
Serve
- Serve the bistec encebollado hot, garnished with the onion sauce, alongside rice and beans.
