Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
Chicken
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded BBQ flavored
Cheese Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk whole or 2%
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup monterey jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Topping
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs optional for crunch

Method
 

Prepare the Pasta
  1. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Make the Cheese Sauce
  1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  3. Add the cheddar and monterey jack cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
Combine Ingredients
  1. Add the cooked macaroni and shredded BBQ chicken to the cheese sauce. Stir until well combined.
Bake
  1. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Drizzle BBQ sauce on top and sprinkle with bread crumbs if using.
  2. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
